Handmade in small batches, and slowly baked, we use just four simple ingredients to make our Irish shortbread; creamy butter from grass fed Irish cows, flour, sugar and rice. A timeless classic. Perfect with a cup of tea for that melt in the mouth experience.
Michael Hassetts passion for baking developed during his time working across Europe, as a trained chef in the early 80s. On returning to Ireland, Michael started his own bakery based in Douglas, Cork in 1984. This was a small wholesale bakery producing confectionery with a strong continental influence for the retail sector. Encouraged by the market uptake, he went on to open his first shop in 1988 producing quality products using only the best of fine local ingredients. In 1995, Michael expanded into the nearby town of Carrigaline.
34 years later, Hassetts now offer a wide range of products including artisan breads and confectionery: cakes, desserts, biscuits, crackers, granolas, chocolates & ice creams. Continuing to grow and develop, Hassetts now have shops in the English Market, Douglas Court and Blackpool Shopping Centre. They hold many awards, including Blas na hEireann, Great Taste Award, Artisan Business of the Year and Best Cork Export Business.
